What makes Expert boards expert
On an Expert board one deduction rarely finishes anything. You narrow a clue to a few rectangles, take the cells all of them share, and use those to cut the options of the clues next to it, again and again across the grid. Every board is still checked to have one answer you can reach by logic alone, without trial and error.
Tips for Expert Patches
List the options before you place anything. For the clue with the fewest legal rectangles, mark the cells every one of them covers: those cells are taken, so no other patch can use them. Repeat for its neighbors and the board starts to open. If you stall, the hint button points at the next forced clue without spoiling the rest.
