Hard Patches Game Unlimited is the expert format. On a Hard board most clues hide one or both of their properties — you'll see bare shape icons, lonely numbers, and freeform clues that specify nothing at all. The board stops being a matching exercise and becomes a logic puzzle: the only way in is to chain deductions across the whole grid. There's no daily cap, so you can grind Hard boards until the pattern recognition becomes second nature.
What makes Hard boards hard
With so much hidden, no single clue is enough on its own. You lean on the hard rule that every cell belongs to exactly one patch and every patch holds exactly one clue. That forces long chains — placing one patch removes options for three others, which in turn locks a fourth. The solver still guarantees a unique answer, so there is never a guess; there is only a deduction you haven't found yet.
Tips for Hard Patches
Work from scarcity. Find the cell or clue with the fewest legal placements and resolve it first — usually a corner, a tight edge, or a clue boxed in by its neighbors. When you're stuck, the hint button glows the next forced clue, outlines its placement, or auto-places it, so you can unstick one step without spoiling the rest.
